Year 11 and 13 Graduation 2025

VIjay International School Praslin hosted their annual graduation event for IGCSE and A-Level students on the evening of Thursday 12thJune. Le Duc Hotel hosted the evening, which had an impressive turnout, attendedby graduates, parents, staff, board members and close friends of the schoolcommunity.

From start to finish, the event had the most incredibleatmosphere, with students wearing cap and gowns, celebrating their achievementsand reflecting on their hard work - not only during the exam season, butthroughout their whole school life. These 2 cohorts are groups to admire; theiroverall work ethic is second to none. They have always set themselves highexpectations, and as such, are very much looking forward to their exam resultsin August.

Mrs Thompson, school Principal, opened the event, welcomingall the guests and students.

She thanked all the key contributors that have helped leadthese wonderful students on their educational journey. Parents, family, staff,governors and PTA were celebrated for all their amazing work over the years. MrPatel, the school’s patron, was sadly unable to attend, but was thanked for hisinvaluable role in the school’s foundation and continued success.

Mrs Thompson ended her speech by paying a touching tributeto a former student, who passed away when she was in Year 4. This evening wouldhave also been her graduation evening, and her friends and the school wanted tomark this occasion to pay their respects to her and her family. The room took amoment of silence to reflect and remember her.

Mr Fell, Head of Sixth Form, celebrated the Year 13graduates, inviting each of them on stage to be awarded with their graduationcertificate and be applauded by the audience. He spoke glowingly about thefuture prospects of this set of students, the majority of whom have securedplaces at top universities around the world. Five students are heading to theUK, one to Israel, one to Hungary, one to Australia and one to Malaysia, withthe others waiting to make their final decisions after they receive theirresults.

Mrs Scattergood, Head of Upper Secondary, followed bypraising the Year 11 graduates as she invited the students up to the stage. Theschool anticipates excellent IGCSE results this year with this diligent cohortof students, who are awaiting their results in August. Of the 23 Year 11students, 20 of those are hoping to move on to study at Advanced Level at VISP,and will no doubt secure top university places in two years time.

The academic year ends soon at VISP, and many students havealready confirmed places for A-Level studies next year. The school offers abroad range of A-Levels for students on Praslin and La Digue, and students fromthose islands considering an academic pathway should contact the school to discuss options.
